School Residencies

Imagine your students creating a pageant on cultural diversity, the history of your town/school, or the issues of global warming.

Kids with masksFor decades, In the Heart of the Beast Puppet & Mask Theatre has been engaging students of all ages and abilities all over the Midwest with its unique, interactive residencies.

  • These hands-on projects make such topics as algebra, biology and history jump off the page or poster board and spring into 3-D technicolor!
  • HOBT customizes every residency to complement and enhance your curriculum objectives. Our highly skilled artist /instructors will work with you and your students to create a group project from start to finish.
  • Your group will learn to conceptualize, design and build a puppet parade, pageant or play, as well as to write, rehearse and perform.
  • Residencies usually range from 5 to 10 days and involve a team of two artists for four contact hours per day.
  • Fees vary based on duration. Minnesota K-12 public schools may qualify for a subsidy from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
  • HOBT also offer curriculum-based residencies to accompany its Small Touring Shows.
