March 2-4

Melting WaterMelting
by Mary Parker and Marg Rozycki

Evangeline and Angela grapple with how the world transforms. They examine questions of stress, sacrifice, relationship to the world at large, and love. The entire show is grounded in the eternal cycle of life and death.

Ain't Heard Tell
Aint Heard Tellby Matt Larson and Hannah Rivenburgh

"A lotta water run over the dam since then, ain't they." So says renowned Round Peak, North Carolina fiddler Tommy Jarrell. With themes of the travel of history and transmission of culture, of hardship, resilience and the humor that results, this crude and careful show integrates live traditional music, dance, and storytelling into puppetry to dig into the depth and dirt of Mr. Jarrell and his storytelling sister Julie--without letting go. Created in collaboration with Director Masanari Kawahara and fellow performer Rina Rossi.

Our theatre provokes dreaming as a first step in the process of creative action.

DreamThe grand upheaval happening in the world, is in part, a manifestation of collective dreaming on a global scale. In this year, let us uphold the bold power of people coming together to make these dreams reality! Our theatre also revels in dreams of quiet mystery that can be found beneath the surface. In this darkest month, we perform "Winter Dreams," a lovely, lyrical meditation of the non-human world before the light's return. Dreaming propels our "theatre of wonder" through our residency programs, our Saturday Puppet Show series, the build and enactment of the Mayday Festival, and our community partnerships.

With your support, we continue to nurture the creativity of children and adults alike — from a first encounter with the puppetry arts through offerings of professional development. Together we are shaping our future as a puppet center with deep roots in the neighborhood and limbs spread wide to serve a vision of health for the world. We are not allowing the continued national economic stress to cast a gloomy shadow on our work. Indeed, we believe even more deeply in the power of abundance that rises from the hearts and dreams of people who come together with authentic creativity for the common good. Thank you for being a part of this, our very mission.

In gratitude for your generosity,
Sandy Spieler - artistic director
Loren Niemi - executive director
