“Trying to own water makes no more sense than trying to own love --it is the flow that matters.”

-Sarah Ruth Vangelden,
Yes! Magazine (Winter 2004)

may the tide
that is entering even now
the lip of our understanding
carry you out
beyond the face of fear...

- From “Blessing The Boats” By Lucille Clifton (B 1936)

“We’re all
water from
different
rivers…
That’s why
it’s so easy
to meet.”

-Yoko Ono

Blue Water PuppetWe Listen

The sound of the ocean in seashells
Is the sound of water washing over our cells. What is the voice of the water within us?

We Remember

The water we use today is the same water
Bathed in by dinosaurs; the same water
Will quench the thirst of our children’s
children.

We Reflect

Our bodies are light and water—
Reflecting BowlChlorophyll, the sun condensed by the plants we eat, gives us energy;
water moves it through us.
Winged figures connect sky and earth. Their bowls and hoops embody our
prayers for the water.

We Rise

With the Tree of Life, and with the Sun and Moon,

We Protect
and We Respect

All beings -- animals, humans, and plants-- are our relatives through water. All beings have a right to water.
Water must move as it moves.

GiveThis River

Like water, we learn

with Generosity

To give and to receive unconditionally,

Gratitude

To accept and to transform, to know no boundaries

and Celebration

To flow.

Love and Gratitude, shown on a grand scale, can create a powerful shift in our thinking, in our very being. Generosity inspires hope, a hope essential to the process of transforming our relationship to our planet.
