The Paintings
These 15 paintings are from Water Connects The World, a series of 47 paintings commissioned by the McKnight Foundation for the lobby of their new offices. I painted one or two images a week over a period of 9 months. Because the lobby overlooks the Mississippi River, I created a Water Shrine with these paintings as a reminder of how we are connected to the rest of the world through our spot on the River. The shrine envisions water as the arteries that run through our bodies and the body of the earth and holds bits of water gathered by many people from many places in the world.
The Prints
I painted the original images with tempera paint on scraps of plywood. The paintings were scanned and printed with archival ink on 100% cotton paper to produce a vibrant giclée print.
